FOS reports PPI complaints up in first half of 2011

New figures from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) show that complaints about banks were up in the first half of the year, rising 54 percent from the same period last year to a total of 149,925 complains, 98,632 of which had to do with problems with Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).

The rise in complaints regarding PPI came in spite of, or perhaps because of, an April High Court decision finding against several banks that had been accused of misselling PPI.

Banks pledge to resolve complaints quickly and fairly but are they really on a cost cutting exercise leaving the FOS up to 2 years to resolve complaints?
